NET_SEARCH_RULES(5)MachTen Programmer’s ManualNET_SEARCH_RULES(5)
NAME
net_search_rules - resolver search order database
DESCRIPTION
The net_search_rules file contains a list of databases
searched by MachTen networking applications when resolving
host names to Internet addresses. The order of appearance
of a database in the list determines the search order. By
default, name to address resolution is done first via the
local /etc/hosts file and second via the network domain
name system, if one exists.
The allowable entries are:
lcl indicating the local /etc/hosts file.
nds indicating the network
domain name system. Domain
name server(s) are listed in the file
/etc/resolv.conf.
NOTES
Each entry must appear on a single line. A comment (#
sign) preceding the entry disables the database search.
