NAME
mactcpd - Macintosh MacTCP application daemon
SYNOPSIS
/usr/etc/mactcpd
DESCRIPTION
mactcpd allows Macintosh applications using MacTCP to run
concurrently with MachTen. mactcpd is normally started when
MachTen boots and remains until the system is restarted.
mactcpd is a Macintosh faceless
background application hybrid that
uses MachTen system calls to emulate the behavior of MacTCP.
MacTCP need not be installed in the system in order to run
mactcpd.
mactcpd will only start if
MachTen is running and is unaffected by
all MachTen signals and Apple events.

NOTES
mactcpd is compatible with MacTCP Version 1.2.
On startup, mactcpd uses the
daemon facility in syslogd(8) to log
error, warning, and informational priority level
messages.
Applications that open MacTCP
streams when MachTen is running with
no mactcpd daemon present will fail.
Macintosh applications that
require MacTCP services at system
startup may not be compatible with mactcpd.
